Speak plainly: if you find the sweetness of the utterance of the All-Merciful, you will pass beyond your own life and spend in the path of the Friend. This is very clear: this servant has had no worldly desire and has none, for his affair is beyond outward considerations; as is evident, he has fallen, a stranger and oppressed, into the Most Great Prison and has not been delivered from the hands of enemies, nor will he be. Therefore whatever he says is for the sake of God, that perhaps people may be purified from the veils of self and desire and may attain unto the recognition of the Truth, which is the highest station. Their turning away does not harm me, nor does their turning toward me benefit me; we call them only for the sake of God. Verily He is the Self-Sufficient.
