O concourse of the rich! If you see a poor man covered with dust, do not flee from him; rather, sit with him and ask him about what has been shed upon him from the outpourings of the seas of divine decree. By God, in that condition the inmates of the Concourse on High will surely bear witness to you, will invoke blessings upon you, will seek forgiveness for you, will mention you, and will magnify you with holy, pure, eloquent tongues. Blessed, then, is the learned man who will not boast over one beneath him because of his knowledge; and how excellent is the beneficent one who will not mock the disobedient, but will conceal what he has seen of him, so that God may conceal his misdeeds.
