Verily, We have borne all afflictions to purify your souls, while you are among the heedless. Say: It behoveth everyone who hath clung to this hem to be sanctified from that which the Concourse on High abhorreth. Thus hath the matter been decreed from the presence of thy Most Glorious Lord in this Manifest Tablet. Say: Do ye claim to love Me and yet commit that which maketh My heart sorrowful? What aileth you that ye comprehend not what hath been sent down from One All-Knowing, All-Wise? Verily, We behold you in your deeds; if We find in them the holy, sweet fragrance, We pray for you, and thus doth the tongue proclaim.
