Since from His appearance all these names and attributes become manifest, and from His hiddenness all become nonexistent and vanish—now if it is said that He is sight, He is sanctified above sight, for sight is manifested through Him and subsists by His existence; and if you say He is hearing, it is observed that hearing is mentioned through attention to Him, and likewise for all else to which names and attributes apply that is existent and witnessed in the human temple. And all these diverse names and manifest attributes are revealed and witnessed from this verse of oneness, yet He, in His very essence and quiddity, is sanctified above all these names and attributes.
