“And a party you kill.” Nay, if those people had appeared in former times and past ages, none would have denied those holy souls, although all were occupied night and day with the remembrance of God and stood in worship in temples; yet they were deprived of the Dawning-Places of the divine verses and the Manifestations of the evidences of the All-Merciful, as is recorded in the books, and His Honor is aware of some of them. For example, at the advent of Christ, all the divines of the age, though they were awaiting the advent, turned away; and Hannan, who was the most learned of the divines of the age, and likewise Caiaphas, who was the chief of judges, pronounced a judgment of unbelief and issued a legal opinion.
