– XCVII – Consider the doubts which they who have joined partners with God have instilled into the hearts of the people of this land. “Is it ever possible,” they ask, “for gold to be transmuted into copper?” Say, Yes, by my Lord, it is possible. Its secret, however, lieth hidden in Our Knowledge. We will reveal it unto whom We will. Whoso doubteth Our power, let him ask the Lord his God, that He may disclose unto him the secret, and assure him of its truth. (edit) ...and among some of the polytheists, one of the doubts they have cast in this land is this: can gold become copper? Say: Yes, by my Lord; but with Us is its knowledge. We teach whom We will by knowledge from Our presence. And whoever is in doubt, let him ask God, his Lord, to show it to him, and he will be among those who are certain... and in attaining. (edit)

(edit) Copper, in the rank of golden-ness, is itself a clear proof of the return of gold to its original state, if only they perceived. All metals, in weight, form, and substance, reach one another; but its knowledge is with Us in a hidden book… (edit)
