فاعلم بأنّک کما أیقنت بأنّ لا نفاد لکلماته تعالی أیقن بأنّ لمعانیها لا نفاد أیضًا ولکن عند مبیّنها وخزنة أسرارها والّذین ینظرون الکتب ویتّخذون منها ما یعترضون به علی مطلع الولایة إنّهم أموات غیر أحیآء ولو یمشون ویتکلّمون ویأکلون ویشربون​ (edit)
Know assuredly that just as thou firmly believest that the Word of God, exalted be His glory, endureth forever, thou must, likewise, believe with undoubting faith that its meaning can never be exhausted. They who are its appointed interpreters, they whose hearts are the repositories of its secrets, are, however, the only ones who can comprehend its manifold wisdom. Whoso, while reading the Sacred Scriptures, is tempted to choose therefrom whatever may suit him with which to challenge the authority of the Representative of God among men, is, indeed, as one dead, though to outward seeming he may walk and converse with his neighbors, and share with them their food and their drink. ​ (edit) Know thou that just as thou hast been assured that the Words of God are without end, so also be assured that their meanings have no end.

Yet these meanings are known only to those who make them manifest, the treasurers of their mysteries. As for those who look upon the Books and take from them that wherewith they would object to the Dawning-place of divine authority—verily, they are dead, not living, though they walk and speak and eat and drink. کم من معان لا تحویها قمص الألفاظ وکم منها لیست لها عبارة ولم تعط بیانًا ولا اشارةً وکم منها لا یمکن بیانها لعدم حضور أوانها کما قیل: "لا کلّ ما یعلم یقال ولا کلّ ما یقال حان وقته ولا کلّ ما حان وقته حضر أهله"،​ (edit)
How great the multitude of truths which the garment of words can never contain! How vast the number of such verities as no expression can adequately describe, whose significance can never be unfolded, and to which not even the remotest allusions can be made! How manifold are the truths which must remain unuttered until the appointed time is come! Even as it hath been said: “Not everything that a man knoweth can be disclosed, nor can everything that he can disclose be regarded as timely, nor can every timely utterance be considered as suited to the capacity of those who hear it.” ​ (edit) How many meanings there are that the garments of words cannot contain!

How many there are for which no expression hath been given, no utterance or allusion! And how many there are that cannot be declared because their time hath not yet come— as it hath been said: ‘Not all that is known can be spoken, not all that can be spoken hath its time come, and not all whose time hath come have found its people.’ (edit)

ومنها ما یتوقّف ذکره علی عرفان المشارق الّتي فیها فصّلنا العلوم وأظهرنا المکتوم نسأل الله بأن یوفّقک ویؤیّدک علی عرفان المعلوم لتنقطع عن العلوم لأنّ طلب العلم بعد حصول المعلوم مذموم تمسّک بأصل العلم ومعدنه لتری نفسک غنیًّا عن الّذین یدّعون العلم من ‌دون بیّنة ولا کتاب منیر...​ (edit)
Of these truths some can be disclosed only to the extent of the capacity of the repositories of the light of Our knowledge, and the recipients of Our hidden grace. We beseech God to strengthen thee with His power, and enable thee to recognize Him Who is the Source of all knowledge, that thou mayest detach thyself from all human learning, for, “what would it profit any man to strive after learning when he hath already found and recognized Him Who is the Object of all knowledge?” Cleave to the Root of Knowledge, and to Him Who is the Fountain thereof, that thou mayest find thyself independent of all who claim to be well versed in human learning, and whose claim no clear proof, nor the testimony of any enlightening book, can support. ​ (edit) Among these meanings are those whose mention dependeth upon the recognition of the Dawning-places wherein We have unfolded the sciences and made manifest what was hidden.

We beseech God to assist and strengthen thee to attain unto the knowledge of the Known, that thou mayest be cut off from the pursuit of knowledge—for to seek knowledge after the Known hath been attained is blameworthy.

Hold fast to the Root of knowledge and its Mine, that thou mayest behold thyself independent of those who claim knowledge without proof or an illuminating Book.” (edit)
